We deliberately stepped away from the capital. InMHC 2027 unfolds in Bardiya, in Nepal's western Terai, beside one of Asia's finest national parks, hosted not by a hotel chain but by a community.
Outside Kathmandu, on purpose
Mental health services are concentrated in cities, and so are conferences about them. Holding InMHC 2027 in Western Nepal places the conversation where the gaps, and the innovations, actually live.
A living classroom
Bardiya's homestay networks, women's cooperatives, health posts and schools are community-based care in practice. Here, Theme 2, reaching the unreached, is not theoretical.
Restorative by nature
Bardiya National Park, home of the Bengal tiger, one-horned rhinoceros and wild elephants, borders the venue. Sal forest, Karnali-fed grasslands and open Terai skies surround every session. Minds do their best thinking where they can also breathe.
The homestay model
Hosted by families, not front desks
Our proposed home is Dalla Homestay, on the edge of Bardiya National Park. Every delegate who wishes it is welcomed into a vetted Bardiya homestay, a family home with clean, comfortable rooms, home-cooked meals and the kind of hospitality that cannot be trained in a hotel school.
Your stay directly supports local households. Conference revenue flows into the village economy: host families, cooks, guides, drivers and artisans, making InMHC 2027 a conference the community truly co-owns.
Prefer a hotel? A limited number of lodge and resort rooms near the park will be listed with registration. But we gently encourage the homestay. It is where the conference's best conversations tend to continue after dark.
Vetted & supported hosts
Every homestay is inspected and supported by the organizing committee and the Bardiya homestay network. Hygiene, safety and dietary needs are planned for.
Community kitchen & shared tables
Conference lunches come from a community kitchen: local grains, seasonal vegetables, Tharu specialties. Vegetarian, vegan and allergy-aware options throughout.
Cultural evenings
Tharu dance, music and storytelling, shared by hosts because they love it.
Community fund
A fixed share of every registration fee is reserved for a community mental health initiative in Bardiya, chosen with the village.

Fly into Kathmandu
Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) connects Kathmandu with Delhi, Mumbai, Dhaka, Colombo, Thimphu/Paro, Malé and major Gulf and Asian hubs. Our travel desk will greet international delegates.
Kathmandu → Nepalgunj
A scenic 50-minute domestic flight crosses the country west to Nepalgunj (KEP). Prefer the road? Comfortable tourist coaches make the journey in about 10–12 hours. We will organize conference shuttles.
Nepalgunj → Bardiya
A 2–3 hour drive through the Terai plains brings you to Bardiya, where your host family, and a warm Tharu welcome, will be waiting.
Visa & arrival support: Nepal offers visa-on-arrival for most nationalities. Our travel desk will publish detailed guidance: airport pickup windows, shuttle schedules and domestic flight blocks, alongside registration.

Practical notes for March in Bardiya
Weather
Early March in the Terai: warm days around 24–30°C, cool mornings and evenings. Light layers, a hat and comfortable walking shoes are ideal.
Connectivity
4G mobile data covers the area; the conference hub will have Wi-Fi. Consider it a gentle invitation to disconnect a little.
Health & safety
A medical desk and first-aid team will be on site throughout. Nepalgunj has a regional hospital, 2–3 hours away.
What to bring
Reusable water bottle, sun protection, any personal medication, and curiosity. Bedding and towels are provided by your hosts.
