Workplace Mental Health, Employee Wellbeing and Psychosocial Safety

Mental health is not merely an individual responsibility; it is an organizational one.

Why this theme matters

Workplaces have become increasingly important settings for mental health promotion. Employees across different sectors may experience chronic stress, burnout, excessive workload, job insecurity, workplace conflict, harassment, discrimination, poor leadership, work-life imbalance and emotional exhaustion.

These challenges affect not only individual wellbeing but also productivity, organizational performance, staff retention and workplace relationships.

This thematic area will explore how organizations can create psychologically healthy and safe workplaces.

The concept of psychosocial safety will receive particular attention. Psychosocial safety refers to workplace environments where psychological health is protected and where employees feel respected, supported and safe to discuss concerns without fear of stigma or retaliation.

The conference will encourage employers and institutions to recognize mental health not merely as an individual responsibility but as an organizational and leadership responsibility.
